IBM 12R8616 1 GB DDR1 Memory DIMM, 266 MHz (CCIN 309E)

12R8616 is IBM's 1 GB DDR1 memory DIMM at 266 MHz, CCIN 309E, listed in the POWER5 system parts table for the 9406-570, 9117-570 and 9118-575. IBM names 53P3228 as the non-RoHS alternate.

The 266 MHz DDR1 DIMMs IBM lists for these three models are 512 MB 12R9240 (CCIN 309D), 1 GB 12R8616, 2 GB 12R9259 (CCIN 30AA) and 4 GB 12R9278 (CCIN 30B3). A separate 1 GB DDR1 DIMM, 53P3230 (CCIN 309F), is listed only for the 9406-570.

For the 570, IBM installs memory as quads on the processor cards; each card has eight DIMM slots and needs at least four DIMMs and 2 GB. With 1 GB DIMMs, one quad gives a card 4 GB.

DDR1 runs on the 1.5 GHz, 1.65 GHz and 1.9 GHz processor cards with features 7834, 7830 and 7832, and a 9117-570 cannot mix DDR1 with DDR2. IBM also recommends the same amount of memory on each processor card for best performance.
