X339A is a NetApp 2 TB disk drive for ONTAP systems, identified by NetApp model ID X339_SCMNE02TA07.
NetApp issue CONTAP-336552 covers NA02 firmware for the SCMNE drive models. NetApp calls NA02 a maintenance release that addresses a single issue: an improvement to the seek algorithm to avoid multiple retries, which may be observed as latency. The same firmware is also tracked under issue CFDISK-794, which covers both the 2 TB SCMNE02 and the 4 TB SCMNE04 drives: X336A-R6, X375A and X477A-R6 also update to NA02.
The NA02 table lists another 2 TB SCMNE drive, X306A-R5, with model ID X306_SCMNE02TSSM, so the model ID on the label is the way to tell the two parts apart.
ONTAP loads drive firmware with the storage firmware download process, from packages NetApp posts on its support site.
Fit check: before adding a used X339A to an aggregate, check its firmware revision and update to NA02 if it is older.
