P48813-B21 is the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 2U 8SFF x1 Tri-Mode U.3 Drive Cage Kit, a front drive cage that adds eight 2.5-inch bays. PartSurfer lists its backplane spare as P62070-001, described as an 8SFF 24G x1 UBM6 backplane.
HPE's DL380 Gen11 QuickSpecs says it is an 8SFF U.3 x1 front cage that can be selected only with the 8SFF CTO server, up to three per server. Fitting three front cages requires the High-Performance Fan Kit, P48820-B21. Tri-mode means the bays can take SAS, SATA or NVMe U.3 drives through a tri-mode controller. The cage supports a controller or direct attach; when direct attached it supports SATA drives only, connected to the SATA port on the motherboard.
The x1 in the name refers to one PCIe lane per NVMe bay. For full x4 NVMe bandwidth, HPE lists the 8SFF U.3 Premium Drive Cage Kit, P48814-B21, which is x4 and supports NVMe only when direct attached. HPE also notes that this cage cannot be combined with the 24NVMe Balanced I/O FIO bundles, and that with 8 or 16 NVMe bundles a controller must be selected.
Check the server model, the existing cage count and the controller before ordering, and add the cables the QuickSpecs lists for the chosen controller.
