P49034-B21 is HPE's 3.84TB SAS 12G Read Intensive SSD in the 2.5-inch SFF format with a hot-plug Smart Carrier (SC). PartSurfer lists the service spare as P49736-001 (SSD 3.84TB SFF SAS RI SC MV).
HPE's SSD QuickSpecs lists it as a full-performance, dual-port 12Gb/s SAS drive with TLC flash and digitally signed firmware, supported on Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers. It is rated at 1 drive write per day and 6,848 TB of lifetime writes, with sequential reads up to 1,080 MiB/s and writes up to 1,030 MiB/s. HPE lists a 15 mm Z-height and a maximum power figure of 9.19 W.
HPE describes full-performance SAS SSDs as giving more I/O bandwidth, write performance and endurance than Value SAS drives, for mission-critical workloads. The dual-port interface also allows two data paths in configurations that use them.
The drive appears in the QuickSpecs for the ProLiant DL380 Gen10, DL560 Gen10 and ML350 Gen10, and the AMD DL325 and DL385 Gen10 Plus. The Smart Carrier suits those SC bays; Intel-based Gen10 Plus and Gen11 servers use Basic Carrier drives. In the same table the larger sibling is the 15.36TB P49044-B21. As a Multi Vendor SKU, drives from different makers can ship under this number to one HPE specification.
