HPE BladeSystem c-Class 10Gb SFP+ LR Transceiver, 455886-B21

455886-B21 is the HPE BladeSystem c-Class 10Gb SFP+ LR Transceiver. PartSurfer describes it as an SFP+ module to the 10-Gigabit LR standard, giving 10GbE connectivity up to 10 km (6.21 miles) on single-mode fiber through one LC port. The service spare is 456097-001.

Despite the BladeSystem name, the optic was used well beyond blade enclosures. PartSurfer lists the spare in BladeSystem c3000 and c7000 enclosures and Superdome X and Superdome 2 enclosures, Integrity rx2800 i2, rx3600, rx6600, rx9800 and rx9900 servers, the Integrity 10GbE-LR 2-port PCIe adapter, the FlexFabric 534FLR-SFP+ adapter, the Ethernet 10/25Gb 640FLR-SFP28 adapter, HPE NonStop CLIM systems and OEM DL380 Gen10 builds. HPE's (retired) 640SFP28 adapter QuickSpecs also lists it as a supported transceiver beside the 10Gb SR version, 455883-B21.

LR optics use single-mode fiber with LC connectors and are meant for longer links between buildings or across a campus. For multimode fiber, the SR version is 455883-B21. HPE notes that fiber transceivers and cables are bought separately.

Before ordering, confirm that the switch or adapter at each end accepts HPE-coded SFP+ optics and that both ends use LR modules over single-mode fiber.
