HPE's DL360 Gen11 QuickSpecs list P52499-B21 as the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 8 SFF NC CTO Server, the small form factor base model of HPE's 1U two-socket rack server for 4th and 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
The base model ships without processors (one or two can be fitted), with 32 DIMM slots for DDR5 RDIMMs up to 8.0 TB, up to three PCIe 5.0 slots (two on the standard primary riser, a third optional), and two PCIe 5.0 OCP 3.0 slots. NC means networking choice: there is no embedded LAN on the board, and HPE's configurator defaults a BCM5719 1Gb 4-port BASE-T OCP adapter that can be swapped for another OCP or PCIe card. A TAA version is ordered as P52499-B21#GTA.
The 8 SFF bays need a backplane chosen at build time: 24G x1 NVMe/SAS U.3 or 24G x4 NVMe/SAS U.3, both TriMode, with Basic Carrier (BC) drives. Storage control comes from Intel VROC software RAID or HPE Gen11 MR and SR controllers in PCIe or OCP form.
Siblings: P52498-B21 is the 4 LFF model with a 12G SAS backplane and Low Profile carriers; P52500-B21 is the 20 EDSFF model, which requires two processors and uses E3.S drives. For more drive bays or full-height cards in 2U, the DL380 Gen11 8SFF base model is P52534-B21.
HPE states that a field upgrade from 4th to 5th Gen Xeon is not supported, because 5th Gen firmware needs a newer system board.
To confirm what a used unit holds, check processors, backplane type and riser configuration in iLO before buying drives or adapters for it.
