P14278-B21 is the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus 8SFF Configure-to-Order (CTO) Server, a 2U two-socket AMD EPYC rack server. As a CTO base, it ships without processors, memory or drives, which are chosen at order time.
HPE's QuickSpecs gives the 8SFF CTO model an 8 SFF SAS/SATA drive cage, four standard fans, 32 DIMM slots (16 per processor across eight channels; all 32 need two processors), and a choice of HPE modular Smart Array or PCIe plug-in storage controllers. It has three PCIe slots in the primary riser and up to eight with two processors, all PCIe 4.0. Networking is by OCP or stand-up card, and management is iLO 5 with Intelligent Provisioning.
The 8SFF chassis has the most expansion room of the four DL385 Gen10 Plus CTO models. HPE lists up to two more 8 SFF drive cages, 8 NVMe/SAS or 8 NVMe cages, a universal media bay, optical drive, front and rear 2 SFF kits and a front 2 NVMe kit.
Memory is DDR4-3200 registered or load-reduced Smart Memory, up to 8TB with 256GB LRDIMMs, dropping to 2933 MT/s at two DIMMs per channel. HPE states that this server supports AMD EPYC 7001 and 7002 Series processors and not the 7003 Series; the DL385 Gen10 Plus v2 is the model for 7003. The other CTO models are the 24SFF P14279-B21, 12LFF P14280-B21 and 8LFF P14281-B21.
