The IBM 4662-6H2 is a control enclosure for the FlashSystem 5200, IBM's 1U NVMe entry array. Machine type 4662 and model 6H2 are the order codes in the FlashSystem 5200 sales manual. The enclosure has 12 NVMe drive slots and two canisters, each with an 8-core processor, and up to 512 GB of cache per system. 10 Gb iSCSI is standard; optional adapters add 32 or 16 Gb Fibre Channel, 25/10 Gb iSCSI and 12 Gb SAS for expansion. With SAS expansion the system grows to as many as twenty 2U enclosures or eight 5U enclosures, for up to 748 drives. Compatible 2U expansions include the 4662-24G (SFF) and 4662-12G (LFF), which take FRUs such as 01YM203 and 01AC606. IBM withdrew the 4662-6H2 from marketing on December 31, 2024. To confirm a unit, read the machine type-model and serial from the enclosure label or the management GUI and record which host adapters are installed.
