57D8 is an IBM CCIN (card identification number), the code a Power server reports for a PCIe3 x8 cache SAS RAID internal adapter running at 6 Gb. IBM's Power8 failing-function-code page for 57D8 lists the feature code that orders the adapter on each server: EL3U on the 8247-21L and 8247-22L, EJ0U on the 8284-21A and 8284-22A, and EJ0P on the 8247-42L, 8286-41A and 8286-42A. The adapter controls the internal SAS drive bays of the system unit and carries a write cache. IBM's service procedure says to replace it together with its backup power module card, which protects the cache. To confirm fit, check the server machine type-model against the list above, read the CCIN from the adapter label or the system's hardware inventory, and use the feature code for that model.
