The IBM 4657-924 is the control enclosure of the FlashSystem 7300, IBM's 2U all-NVMe midrange array. Machine type 4657 and model 924 are the order codes IBM lists in the FlashSystem 7300 sales manual. The enclosure holds two node canisters that share up to 1,536 GB of cache across the pair. The front carries 24 NVMe slots for IBM FlashCore Modules or industry-standard NVMe flash. 10 Gb iSCSI ports are standard; 32 Gb Fibre Channel, 10/25 Gb Ethernet and 100 Gb Ethernet adapters are options. Capacity grows past the front bays with up to twelve 2U expansion enclosures or four 5U expansion enclosures. IBM announced the 4657-924 on February 8, 2022 and withdrew it from marketing on May 16, 2026. To confirm a unit, read the machine type-model and serial from the label on the enclosure or from the system's management GUI, and check the installed host adapters against the options above before planning connectivity. Drive and adapter features are ordered as separate IBM feature codes under the same machine type.
