HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter, 870828-B21

870828-B21 is the HPE Synergy 5330C, a two-port 32Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter in mezzanine form for HPE Synergy compute modules. HPE's product reference guide gives the controller as the Emulex Gen 6 XE501, with both ports running at 32Gb over a PCIe 3.0 x8 bus. PartSurfer lists two spares under the option, 870826-001 (MEZZ C G3 2p 32G FC HBA EMLX XE501) and 872164-001.

It connects compute modules in a Synergy 12000 frame to SAN storage through the frame's interconnect bays. HPE's QuickSpecs lists the HPE Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Module (876259-B21), the Brocade 32Gb Fibre Channel SAN Switch Module and the Brocade 64Gb FC SAN Switch Module for Synergy as supported interconnects; the older 16Gb Virtual Connect and Brocade 16Gb modules are listed only for the other adapters in the family.

Features HPE lists include NVMe over Fibre Channel, T10-PI end-to-end data protection with arrays such as 3PAR StoreServ, forward error correction at 32GFC, Read Diagnostic Parameters, buffer-to-buffer credit recovery, VM ID, and secure firmware download with a hardware root of trust.
