- Description
- Specifications
A 4-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet line card for the Cisco ASR 9000 Series, in the service edge optimized (SE) version. Cisco describes it as LAN/WAN/OTN capable, and it requires CPAK optics, which are ordered separately. The ports run at full line rate without oversubscription.
SE versus TR: Cisco offers these cards as service edge optimized (SE), for deployments that need enhanced QoS, or packet transport optimized (TR), where basic QoS is enough. The A9K-4X100GE-TR is the TR twin, and the A9K-8X100GE-SE and -TR are the 8-port versions. It should not be confused with the A9K-4X100GE LAN line card, a separate QSFP-based card covered by its own data sheet.
Cisco lists compatibility with the ASR 9006, 9010, 9904, 9906, 9912 and 9922 chassis; one section of the data sheet also lists the ASR 9910, another omits it. The card runs Cisco IOS XR, supports online insertion and removal, operates from 5 to 40°C, and measures 14.5 x 1.63 x 22.02 in at an estimated 28 lb.
Lifecycle: Cisco included it in its end-of-sale notice for selected ASR 9000 3rd Generation products. The last order date was April 30, 2023 and the last date of support is April 30, 2028. Cisco names the A9K-4HG-FLEX-SE 5th-generation 400GE Service Edge combo card as the migration product. Before installing, check the chassis, fabric cards and IOS XR release against Cisco's ASR 9000 compatibility notes, and make sure CPAK optics are on hand.
