Cisco CW9164I-MR Catalyst 9164 Wi-Fi 6E Access Point, Meraki Managed

An indoor Wi-Fi 6E access point from the Cisco Catalyst 9164 Series. Cisco's data sheet describes the -MR model as the cloud-managed version run from the Meraki dashboard, while CW9164I models with a regulatory-domain suffix are the Catalyst-managed versions.

Radios: 4x4 at 5 GHz and 6 GHz plus 2x2 at 2.4 GHz, for a combined 7.49 Gbps. Internal antennas give 3 dBi at 2.4 GHz, 5 dBi at 5 GHz and 4 dBi at 6 GHz. A BLE 5.1 radio is built in.

Ports are one 2.5G Multigigabit uplink, a console port and a USB 2.0 port rated at 4.5 W.

Power: 802.3bt at 30 W runs everything including USB. 802.3at at 25 W runs all radios but not USB. On 802.3af the radios are off, so it is suitable only for staging. A 54 V DC input takes the MA-PWR-50WAC adapter, and Cisco lists the AIR-PWRINJ7=, AIR-PWRINJ6= and MA-INJ-6 injectors.

The unit measures 9.5 x 9.5 x 2.2 in, weighs 1.60 kg, has 2,048 MB of DRAM and 1,024 MB of flash, and is rated 0 to 50°C. When run in Catalyst mode it needs IOS XE 17.9.1 or later. Cisco's limited lifetime warranty covers the original end user.

A used unit needs a Meraki licence and must be released from the previous owner's dashboard organisation before it can be claimed. To confirm fit, make sure the switch port can supply 802.3at or better.
