Cisco Catalyst C9120AXE-B Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

This is the -B regulatory-domain unit of the external-antenna Catalyst 9120AX, which Cisco positions for challenging indoor environments where the antenna has to suit the space. It is an 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) access point with 4x4 radios on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, 20 to 160 MHz channels, and PHY rates up to 5.38 Gbps. Cisco notes that customers must confirm a regulatory domain is approved for the country of use.

Antennas are bought separately; Cisco certifies the 9120AXE with antennas up to 6 dBi on both bands. It adds a smart antenna connector (DART interface) that needs the AIR-CAB002-DART-R= cable for RP-TNC antennas and is required when the flexible radio runs as a second 5 GHz radio or a security monitor. The rated range is -20 to 50°C, compared with 0 to 50°C for the internal-antenna C9120AXI. Memory is 2 GB DRAM and 1 GB flash.

Power: 802.3at PoE+, Cisco UPOE or UPOE+ runs both radios at 4x4 with a 2.5G uplink and USB, at up to 25.5 W. On 802.3af the radios drop to 1x1 and the link to 1G. Cisco's AIR-PWRINJ6 injector supplies 802.3at power where the switch port cannot. The AP weighs 3 lb (1.36 kg).

Lifecycle: Cisco brought the end-of-sale date for C9120AXE models forward to July 10, 2026; the last date of support is December 31, 2031, and the named migration product is the Cisco Wireless 9174E. For a like-for-like replacement, match the regulatory suffix of the existing APs and check that the antennas are on Cisco's certified list.
