Cisco CW9166I-MR Catalyst 9166I Wi-Fi 6E Access Point (Meraki)

This is the Meraki cloud-managed ordering version of the Cisco Catalyst 9166I, an indoor Wi-Fi 6E access point with internal omnidirectional antennas. Cisco's Catalyst 9166 data sheet lists the -MR suffix as the model shipped for the Meraki dashboard, alongside the regulatory-domain CW9166I-x versions; the 9166 can also run with a Catalyst 9800 controller. Cisco states the management mode can later be changed between on-premises and cloud without new hardware.

It has three 4x4:4 client radios on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz, with a software-defined flex radio that can run as a second 5 GHz radio instead of 6 GHz, for a maximum aggregate frame rate of 7.78 Gbps. A dedicated scanning radio handles WIDS/WIPS and RF optimization, and a fifth radio provides Bluetooth Low Energy beaconing and scanning. The uplink is a single 100M to 5G multigigabit RJ-45 port.

Power: 802.3bt (UPOE) runs all radios at 4x4 with the USB port at up to 30.5 W; 802.3at PoE+ also runs all radios at 4x4 at up to 25 W, but without USB. 802.3af is not supported, and a 54 V DC adapter is an option. It measures 9.5 x 9.5 x 2.2 in, weighs 3.54 lb, operates from 0 to 50°C and ships with the AIR-AP-BRACKET-2 mount.

Siblings: the CW9166D1-MR has a built-in directional antenna for high ceilings, and the Wi-Fi 6 C9120AXI is the earlier generation without 6 GHz. The switch port must supply at least 802.3at PoE+, since 802.3af is not supported.
