Cisco EPA-QSFP-1X100GE ASR 1000 1-Port 100GE QSFP Port Adapter

A single-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet port adapter (EPA) for Cisco ASR 1000 Series routers, using a QSFP port.

It fits two hosts. The first is the ASR1000-MIP100 modular interface processor, a 100 Gbps line card that holds up to two EPAs and is used in the ASR 1006-X, ASR 1009-X and ASR 1013. The second is the EPA slot of the ASR 1002-HX. Cisco lists IOS XE 16.9.1 as the minimum release on both hosts, later than most other EPAs, so earlier releases do not support it. EPAs do not fit SPA interface processors.

The main difference from the EPA-1X100GE is the optic. The EPA-1X100GE takes a CPAK module, while this adapter takes a QSFP optic, so the two are not interchangeable without changing transceivers. Cisco's 1001-HX/1002-HX installation guide does not list optics for this adapter, so check the optic against Cisco's compatibility matrix.

MACsec is supported from IOS XE 16.9.1 and is licensed per port with the FLSA1-MACSEC100G 100GE MACsec licence.

Lifecycle: Cisco includes this adapter and its spare in the end-of-life notice for the ASR1009-X chassis and line cards. End of sale was July 31, 2026, the last ship date is October 29, 2026, software maintenance ends July 31, 2027, security fixes end July 30, 2029 and the last date of support is July 31, 2031. Cisco does not name a direct replacement.

To confirm fit, check the host (MIP100 or ASR 1002-HX), its IOS XE release, and the QSFP optic planned for the far end.
