HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter, 777456-B21

777456-B21 is the HPE Synergy 5830C, a two-port 32Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter in mezzanine form for HPE Synergy compute modules. HPE's product reference guide gives the controller as the Marvell EP2722, with both ports running at 32Gb over a PCIe 3.0 x8 bus. PartSurfer lists the service spare as 782831-001 (Mezzanine G3 2-port 32G Fibre Channel HBA).

It connects compute modules in a Synergy 12000 frame to SAN storage through the frame's interconnect bays. HPE lists the Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Module (876259-B21) and the Brocade 32Gb and 64Gb FC SAN Switch Modules for Synergy as supported interconnects. It also lists the 16Gb Virtual Connect SE module and Brocade 16Gb switch modules, which run the link at 16Gb. HPE notes that 5830C 32G HBAs are compatible with the newer Brocade 64Gb module.

HPE's FC HBA QuickSpecs lists features across the family including NVMe over Fibre Channel, forward error correction, T10-PI and T10 DIF data protection, ECC and VMware vVols. The reference guide gives an operating range of 0 to 55 °C.

Its sibling is the Synergy 5330C (870828-B21), which offers the same two 32Gb ports on an Emulex XE501 controller. Pick the one that matches your existing drivers and SAN management tools, since Marvell (QLogic) and Emulex adapters use different driver stacks and utilities. HPE's current QuickSpecs also lists the newer 5331C (P76653-B21).
