HPE 1.92TB SAS 12G Read Intensive SFF SC Multi Vendor SSD, P49030-B21

P49030-B21 is HPE's 1.92TB SAS 12G Read Intensive SSD in the 2.5-inch SFF format with a hot-plug Smart Carrier (SC). It is a Multi Vendor, full-performance SAS drive. PartSurfer lists the service spare as P49734-001 (SSD 1.92TB SFF SAS RI SC MV).

HPE lists the drive in the QuickSpecs for the ProLiant DL380 Gen10, DL560 Gen10 and ML350 Gen10, and the AMD-based DL325 and DL385 Gen10 Plus. In the DL380 Gen10 table it sits directly below the Value SAS version at the same size, P36999-B21.

HPE's SSD QuickSpecs explains the difference: Value SAS drives are single-port and give roughly twice the IOPS of SATA SSDs at lower cost, while full-performance SAS drives add I/O bandwidth, write performance and endurance for mission-critical work. HPE rates the 3.84TB model in this family, P49034-B21, at 1 drive write per day, dual-port, with TLC flash; separate figures for the 1.92TB model are not in the current tables.

Read Intensive drives fit read-heavy workloads such as content repositories, read caching and analytics. The Smart Carrier suits SC bays in Gen10 and AMD Gen10 Plus servers; Intel-based Gen10 Plus and Gen11 servers use Basic Carrier drives. As a Multi Vendor SKU, drives from different makers can ship under this number. PartSurfer shows the spare in the drive kit, a remanufactured kit and a factory kit.
