HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8400 Controller Assembly, 792653-001

792653-001 is the HPE service spare for the controller assembly (controller node) of the 3PAR StoreServ 8400. PartSurfer and the 3PAR StoreServ 8000 product reference guide both list it as "Controller assembly StoreServ 8400". It is not interchangeable with the controller assemblies of the other 8000 models: the 8440 uses 792654-001 and the 8450 uses 792655-001.

PartSurfer flags it as a limited-supply spare (December 2018 note) and points to Service Advisory a00051619en_us for the alternate controller assembly, adding that the newer controller spare requires a higher 3PAR OS level. If you are replacing a node, check the array's OS level against that advisory before choosing between this assembly and its replacement.

PartSurfer lists it in 8400 2-node and 4-node storage bases (field-integrated, storage-centric and standard versions) and the 8400 upgrade node pair. HPE's reference guide gives the 8400 as 2 or 4 controller nodes, each node pair carrying 64 GiB of on-node cache and up to 768 GiB of optional flash cache, with a six-core 2.2 GHz processor per node. A system scales to 24 host ports and 6 to 576 drives.

Per HPE, an 8000 upgrade node pair adds two controller nodes, four built-in 16Gb FC ports, one PCIe host-adapter slot per node and built-in 1GbE ports for management and Remote Copy or File Persona. Host adapters are separate parts, so move or re-order them when swapping a node. Match the replacement to the 8400 model, and to any separate management-controller variant (P00520-001 is listed as "Controller assembly StoreServ 8400 MC").
