HPE Aruba Networking AP-505 (RW) Dual Radio 2×2 802.11ax Internal Antennas Unified Campus AP, R2H28A

R2H28A is the rest-of-world (RW) version of the HPE Aruba Networking AP-505, a dual-radio Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) indoor access point with internal antennas. HPE sells the AP-505 in regional versions; the US model is R2H29A. Because channels and power depend on the configured regulatory domain, buy the version that matches the country where the AP will be installed.

HPE's 500 Series QuickSpecs gives each radio two spatial streams: up to 1.2 Gbps on 5 GHz (HE80) and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (HE40), for a 1.49 Gbps maximum real-world rate. Each radio supports up to 256 clients and 16 BSSIDs. It supports OFDMA, MU-MIMO, WPA3 and Enhanced Open, and has an integrated Bluetooth 5 and Zigbee (802.15.4) radio for IoT and location services. A TPM is built in for secure key storage.

The single Ethernet port is 10/100/1000BASE-T and powers the AP over 802.3af or 802.3at PoE. A 12 V DC input is also available. HPE gives maximum draw of 11.0 W on PoE without a USB device attached, and notes that on 802.3af with IPM disabled, the USB port is turned off. The unit measures 160 x 161 x 37 mm and weighs 500 g. It is plenum rated, works from 0 to 50 °C and has a stated MTBF of 1.3 million hours.

Mount kits are not included. HPE lists the AP-MNT-A to AP-MNT-E and AP-MNT-U brackets, such as R3J18A for solid surfaces. HPE gives InstantOS 8.6.0.0 or AOS 10.1.0.0 as the minimum software.
