The modular Catalyst 9200 switches (C9200 SKUs, as opposed to the fixed-uplink C9200L) take their uplinks from a field-replaceable network module, and this is the four-port 1 Gigabit option. Cisco lists it in the data sheet as the Catalyst 9200 4 x 1GE Network Module; the spare is ordered as C9200-NM-4G=.
Cisco notes it is not supported on the multigigabit C9200-24PXG and C9200-48PXG, which instead take the 25G C9200-NM-2Y and 40G C9200-NM-2Q modules. It fits the other modular models such as the C9200-24T, C9200-24P, C9200-48T, C9200-48P and C9200-48PL. Network modules let a modular 9200 move from 1G to 10G uplinks without replacing the switch, and Cisco describes the change as nondisruptive.
On the standard modular models the uplink choices are this module and the C9200-NM-4X (4 x 1G/10G), plus a C9200-NM-BLANK cover for an empty slot; the 25G and 40G modules are listed for the PXG models only.
When buying a used switch, check whether a module is fitted, since the data sheet lists network modules as separate items chosen at purchase.
