For the 2078-U5A, and 2078-24F model, a full complement of 24 disks must be ordered with the system at initial purchase; partially populated shelves are not supported. Expansions ordered with the U5A model must also be ordered fully populated. Disk types may be varied to allow mixing flash and spinning disks for tiering of data.
It is supported by IBM on Models x24 and 24F only.
This drive is not compatible with feature ADN2 on the initial machine order.

The Storwize V5000 control enclosure contains drives and two node canisters. Expansion enclosures contain drives and two expansion canisters.

How many drives can I have?

• The Storwize V5030 has support for up to 760 drives per system with the attachment of Storwize V5000 expansion enclosures and up to 1,520 drives with a two- way clustered configuration.
• The Storwize V5020 has support for up to 392 drives per system with the attachment of Storwize V5000 expansion enclosures.
• The Storwize V5010 has support for up to 392 drives per system with the attachment of Storwize V5000 expansion enclosures

All Storwize V5k drives are dual-port and are hot-swap. HDD and SSD can be intermixed (as long as they are the same form factor per enclosure). LFF and SFF expansion enclosures can be intermixed behind the SFF control enclosure.
