The MSA 2040 is an entry level storage array meant to meet the needs of small to medium business.
Because it's entry level, the CPUs will hold back the raw speed of an SSD to a very minor extent, but will not affect platter type storage.
With that said, you can still expect about 85K IOPS in the real world, which is plenty fast for the SMB market.
If it's not enough headroom, the HP 3PAR 7200 All-Flash Starter kit (or the 7400 products) would be another option and Vertical Enterprise can help with either of those.

Install Tips:
- For iSCSI functionality, the firmware needs to be at GL101 or later.
- The maximum number of MSA 2040 LFF drive enclosures or D2700 SFF drive enclosures is 7 of each or a mix of both up to 7.
- Disk groups spanned across the enclosures support RAID levels 1, 5, 6, 10. Linear Vdisks support RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 50.
- The maximum logical unit number or LUN is 140 TB
- The MSA 2040 and the D2700 disk enclosures can be hot-added to your current array
