877994-B21 is the HPE 1.6TB NVMe Gen3 High Performance Mixed Use SFF SCN U.2 P4610 SSD, listed in the BL460c Gen9 QuickSpecs as the 1.6TB NVMe x4 Lanes Mixed Use SFF (2.5in) SCN Digitally Signed Firmware SSD. The spare is 880244-001.
PartSurfer describes the spare as a 1.6TB SSD, PCIe/NVMe x4, mixed use, Smart Carrier NVMe (SCN), digitally signed firmware. The same record opens with "SAS Solid State Drive", which contradicts the NVMe interface in the rest of the line; this page treats it as an NVMe drive and does not repeat "SAS".
NVMe drives need NVMe-capable bays. In the BL460c Gen9, HPE requires the Gen9 Broadwell NVMe FIO setting 825555-B21 for SFF NVMe SSDs and says it is not compatible with the Smart Array P244br, P246br or Smart HBA H244br.
The spare's where-used list includes DL360 Gen10 32TB and 64TB Performance Server builds and an SGI 1.6TB NVMe entry.
