The HP 9000 rp8420 (base A6912A) is a 17U PA-RISC server with up to four sx1000 cell boards and 16 dual-core PA-8900 modules at 1.1 or 1.0 GHz, 32 cores. Load cell slot 0 or 1 first, then follow the recommended order 0, 1, 2, 3; within a cell, processors go in as 0, 2, 1, 3, and every cell needs one active core.
Without expansion the rp8420 runs one or two hard partitions, and the Server Expansion Unit takes it to four. Memory reaches 256 GB with sixteen AB322A quads, and the rp8420 shares the AB307A, AB308A, AB309A and AB322A quads with the Integrity rx8620.
The rp8420 cell board carries forward into an Integrity rx8620, but rp8400 cell boards must be replaced when an rp8400 is upgraded to an rp8420. HP-UX 11i v1, v2 and v3 are supported, and the chassis has 16 hot-plug PCI-X slots.
The fan spares (A6093-67117, A6093-67118), the 0957-2183 bulk supply and the PCI-X card cage below are in the PartSurfer BOM for A6912A, and the fans and bulk supply also appear in the rp8400 BOM (A6093A).
