The HP 9000 rp7420 (base A7025A) is a 10U, two-cell PA-RISC server on the sx1000 chipset that holds up to eight dual-core modules, 16 processors. Supported modules are PA-8900 at 1.1 or 1.0 GHz and PA-8800 at 1.0 GHz or 900 MHz. PA-8800 and PA-8900 can share the chassis only in different hard partitions, and neither can be mixed with PA-8700+ in the same server.
Each rp7420 cell needs at least one active (non-iCAP) processor, and processors load in the order 0, 2, 1, 3. The rp7420 cell board can be carried forward into an Integrity rx7620, while the rp7410 cell board cannot move into the rp7420. The Integrity upgrade uses cell board A6913A with an AB225A socket terminator, plus an A9792A baffle per cell for mx2 modules.
Memory is sold in quads, at least 2 GB per cell, up to 128 GB per system with eight AB322A 16 GB quads; AB307A, AB308A and AB309A also fit, and the rp7410 quads A6097A, A6098A and A6100A are supported. A cell board cannot combine 4 GB DIMMs with the smaller non-stacked DIMMs. HP-UX 11i v1 and v2 are the supported operating systems.
The chassis has 15 hot-plug PCI-X slots and takes up to two AB306A core I/O boards. The spares below from the PartSurfer BOM for A7025A are the PCI-X card cage, the hot-swap AC power supply and the 66 mm TurboCooler processor fan.
