HP Integrity Superdome came as Superdome 16, 32 and 64 on two chipsets. sx1000 systems take Itanium 1.6 GHz/9 MB (Mad9M) processors or HP mx2 modules; sx2000 systems take dual-core Itanium 9000 (Montecito) and 9100 (Montvale) processors at 1.6 GHz as well as Mad9M. The sx2000 product numbers are A9833A (Superdome 16), A9834A (Superdome 32) and A9834A plus A9835A for the two-cabinet Superdome 64.
A cell board holds up to four processor modules and 32 DIMM slots, up to 128 GB per cell with 4 GB DIMMs on sx2000. Superdome 16 runs 1 to 4 cells, Superdome 32 runs 1 to 8 and Superdome 64 runs 2 to 16, for up to 2,048 GB. Cell boards are chipset-specific, and all cells in one system must share a chipset; within that rule, sx1000 can mix Mad9M, PA-8800 and PA-8900 cells and sx2000 can mix Itanium 9000/9100, Mad9M and PA-8900 cells, each type in its own hard partition.
Each hard partition needs at least one 12-slot PCI-X I/O chassis (A9836A), and the mixed chassis released with Montvale in November 2007 has six PCIe and six PCI-X slots. sx1000 partitions boot from an A6865A core I/O card, while sx2000 has no core I/O and needs an I/O card with LAN connectivity in each partition. HP-UX 11i v2 and v3, Windows Server 2008 for Itanium, RHEL 4 and 5, SLES 9 and 10 and OpenVMS can run side by side in separate hard partitions.
The I/O cards below are from the Superdome QuickSpecs card tables and from the PartSurfer BOM for A9834A, the Superdome 32/64 chassis. The 8Gb Fibre Channel cards are PCIe and need the mixed I/O chassis.
