The HP Integrity rx6600 is a 7U rack-optimized server with four processor sockets; the AD308A kit turns it into a stand-alone pedestal. HP sold it as base system AB464A, AD132A, AD133A or AD134A, fitted with one, two, three or four dual-core Itanium modules. The supported modules are the 9150N (AD388A, 1.6 GHz/24 MB), 9140N (AD389A, 1.6 GHz/18 MB) and 9120N (AH231A, 1.4 GHz/12 MB), plus upgrade-only 1.6 GHz/24 MB, 1.6 GHz/18 MB and 1.4 GHz/12 MB modules. Processors install one at a time in the order 0, 1, 2, 3.
Memory sits on 24-slot carrier boards, with 48 DIMM slots in a fully built server. The AD126A carrier supports up to 96 GB at 8.5 GB/s; the AD127A raises that to 384 GB at 17.0 GB/s. Every quad must use four DIMMs of equal density, from 2 GB (4 x 512 MB) to 32 GB (4 x 8 GB), with the largest quads in the lowest-numbered slots.
One I/O backplane is fitted, chosen through AD296A: the PCI-X 2.0 version (#100) or the PCI-Express version (#300), each leaving eight slots after the two core I/O slots. HP’s QuickSpecs (Version 40, April 2012) state the PCI-Express backplane was not supported with HP-UX 11i v3 at that time. The server holds up to sixteen hot-plug 2.5-inch SAS disks; each 8-port controller serves eight disks, so disks 9 to 16 need a second controller. The core storage controller is picked by AB036B option code: the PCI-X 8-port SAS host bus adapter for HP-UX and OpenVMS (RAID 1 only), the PCIe Smart Array P400 for any supported OS, or the Smart Array P600 or P800 for Windows and Linux.
Power is one hot-swap supply as standard, with a second for N+1 redundancy, on 200-240 V input; HP lists maximum power dissipation as 1,633 W. A rack-mounted rx6600 weighs up to 68 kg (150 lb). Field racking uses AD053A#B01 (slides and cable management arm); AD053A#0D1 is factory rack integration.
