12GYY is the Dell part number for a 4TB 6Gb/s SAS 3.5 inch hard drive built on the Toshiba MG03SCA400. The MG03SCA series is Toshiba's enterprise capacity line from the 6 Gbit/s SAS generation, built in 4, 3, 2 and 1 TB models for nearline business critical workloads, tier 2 servers and capacity optimized data center storage systems.
The MG03SCA400 spins at 7,200 rpm with 4.17 ms average latency and a 64 MiB buffer. Its dual-port SAS-2.0 interface runs at up to 6.0 Gbit/s and falls back to 3.0 or 1.5 Gbit/s. Sustained transfer is 165 MiB/s for the 4 TB and 3 TB models, against 155 MiB/s for 2 TB and 1 TB. Logical block lengths run from 512 to 528 B.
Maximum read and write power is 11.3 W and low power idle is 6.0 W typical from 5 V and 12 V rails. The MTTF is 1,200,000 hours, the non-recoverable error rate is 10 errors per 10^16 bits read, and the drive is built for 24 x 7 operation in the industry standard 3.5 inch, 26.1 mm height case.
