V3-2S10-900 is the EMC 900 GB, 6Gb SAS, 10,000 rpm disk in the 2.5-inch form factor for VNX5100 and VNX5300 storage systems. The EMC Disk and OE Matrix for those two systems (P/N 300-012-417) lists it with the NEBS model N3-2S10-900, and the same entry includes a 25-disk version.
Minimum operating environment for this model is VNX OE for Block 05.31.000.5.006 and VNX OE for File 7.0.12.0. EMC asks that the running OE revision be confirmed in Unisphere Manager before any new disk goes in, because a system below the minimum may fail to recognise the drive or lose data.
The matrix entry carries many EMC drive part numbers (the 005050xxx and 005051xxx series) under one model, so the label on a working carrier may show a different nine-digit number while still being the same V3-2S10-900 model. The equivalent model in the VNX5500, VNX5700 and VNX7500 matrix is VX-2S10-900.
If the enclosure takes 3.5-inch drives, the 4 TB 7.2K V3-VS07-040 and 600 GB 15K V3-VS15-600 are the large-form-factor V3- drives.
Fit check: confirm a VNX5100 or VNX5300 running Block OE 05.31.000.5.006 or later.
