The EVA6100 belongs to the EVA4100, EVA6100 and EVA8100 group of HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays. HP's compatibility reference lists the EVA4100 and EVA6100 together as using the HSV200-A controller. The drive shelf that goes with it is the 14-bay M5314C, which HP's enclosure guide states is used with the EVA6100 and EVA8100 (the older M5314A and M5314B go with the EVA6000 and EVA8000).
Software: XCS 6.110 is the minimum controller software for the EVA4100, EVA6100 and EVA8100. HP notes the only difference between 6.100 and 6.110 is support for these newer arrays. Controller software 6.110 can be installed on any EVA4000/6000/8000 or EVA4100/6100/8100. Arrays running that software family are managed through Command View EVA installed on a physical management server.
Upgrade paths: the reference shows data-in-place upgrades from an EVA3000 or EVA5000, and from an EVA4000 or EVA6000 (HSV200), to the HSV200-A controller of the EVA4100/6100. The EVA6100 can in turn be upgraded in place to an EVA8100 (HSV210-A). The old and new controllers must run the same controller software version during the upgrade.
What to check before ordering: whether the array is a 6000 or a 6100 (read the controller label), because the shelf type and controller differ. A complete 2C4D bundle for this model is the AD556C, the shelf is the AD542C M5314C enclosure, and the previous generation is the EVA6000. The storage systems hub lists related parts.
