Option 00D9690 is the Mellanox ConnectX-3 10 GbE Adapter, feature code A3PM, a two-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet card for System x.
The ConnectX-3 ASIC sits on a PCI Express 3.0 x8 host interface that is backward compatible with PCIe 2.0 and 1.1. Lenovo lists low-latency RDMA over Ethernet, with latency as low as 1 µs on bare metal or with SR-IOV, plus SR-IOV up to 127 virtual functions on the card. Stateless TCP/UDP/IP offload, traffic steering across cores, NetQueue and VMQ, and legacy and UEFI PXE boot are also listed; iSCSI runs as a software initiator in NIC mode.
The ports take passive or active SFP+ DAC cables or SFP+ SR optics. It is a low-profile card; the option package lists a full-height bracket attached and a low-profile bracket in the box, as with the other ConnectX-3 parts.
Server guides list it for the x3550 M4 (2), x3650 M4 (6), x3650 M4 BD (2), x3750 M4 (8), x3550 M5 (3), x3650 M5 (3, or 6), x3850 X6 (9) and x3950 X6 (18).
Fit check: 00D9550 is the 40GbE/FDR InfiniBand ConnectX-3 if you need more bandwidth. 94Y5180 is a Broadcom 10GbE SFP+ card with NPAR partitioning.
