Lenovo 00NA301 1.2TB 10K 12Gbps SAS 2.5″ G3HS 512e SED

00NA301 is Lenovo's 1.2TB 10K 12Gbps SAS 2.5" G3HS 512e SED: a self-encrypting hard drive at 10,000 RPM in the Gen 3 hot-swap tray, ordered as feature code ASBT.

Unlike the other 512e SEDs in this family, this one is listed in Lenovo's M5 server guides: the System x3550 M5 (5463), System x3650 M5 (5462), NeXtScale nx360 M5 and Flex System x240 M5. The x3550 M5 guide lists it in the "2.5-inch hot-swap SEDs - 12 Gbps SAS" group beside 12 Gbps SEDs without the 512e label, such as the 1.2TB 00WG720 (AT8G), which is a different part. The Flex System X6 guide (7903) also lists it, with up to two per node.

In Lenovo's SKLM table, the 1.2TB 10K SEDs come in three versions: 00AD085 (6 Gbps, G2HS), 00AJ151 (6 Gbps, G3HS) and 00NA301 (12 Gbps, G3HS, 512e). Matching interface, tray and sector format avoids mixing drive types in an existing array.

SEDs in these servers are managed through ServeRAID controllers with the SED-capable upgrades Lenovo lists, optionally with IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager for central keys. Before ordering, confirm the server model against the guides above and read the label of the drive being replaced.
