The X3311A is NetApp's Flash Cache NVMe device, reported by ONTAP as Flash Cache NVMe with part number 119-00329, a capacity of 1024 GB and firmware file X3311_S00005000NVM. It adds read caching to hybrid FAS controllers rather than storage capacity.
NetApp's KBs place it in FAS2750 and FAS8200 controllers. On the FAS2750 it sits in the M.2 PCIe slot 1 of the controller, and system controller flash-cache show lists it by model, part number, firmware and capacity.
Two firmware and lifecycle cases are documented. Cards on NA03 firmware can go offline with the fault LED on and a Flash Cache NVMe Offline alert, and NetApp has a separate AutoSupport event, callhome.nvme.exhausted, raised when a Flash Cache device reaches end of life. Another KB covers a card that stays offline after replacement on a FAS8200.
On a used unit, check the state field in sysconfig output; NetApp's resolution for exhausted or failed cards may be replacement.
To confirm fit, run system controller flash-cache show or sysconfig on the controller and compare the model name X3311A and part number 119-00329 with the label on the replacement.
