DK7C9 Dell 12TB 7.2K 3.5-inch Hard Drive (Toshiba MG07SCA12TEY)

DK7C9 is a Dell 12 TB 3.5-inch hard drive at 7,200 rpm, built by Toshiba as model MG07SCA12TEY, formatted 512e and without self-encryption. Dell lists it for the MD1400 and MD1420 expansion enclosures and for the MD2412 and MD2460 enclosures in the newer MD24 family. For the MD2412 and MD2460, Dell notes that the enclosures operate at the speed the current drives support, 12 Gbps, even when connected to a 24 Gbps adapter.

Other 12 TB drives Dell lists for its enclosures come from Seagate: 7KT9W (ST12000NM009G) and YMN53 (ST12000NM0158). The capacity and rotational speed match, but they are different vendor models with different firmware, so keep to one model within a RAID set where your support matrix allows. For more capacity, Dell's Toshiba 16 TB option is the MG08SCA16TEY, sold under 24HF9, 4N7V0 and 8MG73.

DK7C9 does not appear in the ME4 or ME5 array matrices that were checked, so treat it as an expansion-enclosure drive unless your array's matrix lists it.

To confirm fit, read the Toshiba model and Dell part number on the drive label, check the MD14xx or MD24 support matrix for your enclosure, and update to Dell's listed firmware before rebuilding.
