The AFF C190 is NetApp's entry all-flash system, built, like the AFF A220, on FAS2750 hardware with two controllers in an HA pair. NetApp caps it at 24 drives, all 960 GB SSDs, for a maximum of 50.5 TB effective capacity.
Two port builds exist: Ethernet with 4 x 10GBASE-T (RJ-45), or unified with 4 x UTA2 ports that run 16 Gb FC or 10 GbE. The install guide cables the data ports as pairs (e0c/0c and e0d/0d, or e0e/0e and e0f/0f) and inserts SFPs before cabling to an optical switch. For NAS, NetApp quotes 4.4 GBps sequential read and 230K small random-read IOPS at 1 ms or less.
Serviceable parts listed by NetApp are the boot media, chassis, controller, DIMMs, drives, fans, NVMEM battery, power supplies and the real-time clock battery.
For growth, NetApp documents an in-chassis controller swap from AFF C190 to AFF A150 on ONTAP 9.10.1P15, 9.11.1P11, 9.12.1P5 and later, keeping the existing chassis and drives. BMC 11.11 adds HTTPS firmware updates.
Because the drive limit is fixed at 960 GB SSDs, check that replacement drives match that capacity, and confirm the model in sysconfig -a before ordering a controller.
