QDD-400G-DR4-S is a Cisco 400G QSFP-DD module that follows IEEE 802.3 400GBASE-DR4. It reaches 500 m over parallel single-mode fibre (four fibre pairs, G.652) and ends in an MPO-12 SMF APC connector, so it needs APC MPO patch cords.
Each of the four lanes uses a 1310 nm laser. Average transmit power is -2.9 to 4 dBm per lane and average receive power is -5.9 to 4 dBm per lane. Maximum insertion loss is 3 dB, maximum module power is 12 W, pre-FEC bit error ratio is 2.4 x 10^-4 and the laser is Class 1. The pull tab is orange.
The module supports 400GE links and a 4 x 100GE breakout. In breakout mode it complies with IEEE 802.3 100GBASE-DR, and Cisco names QSFP28 100G-DR, QSFP-100G-FR and QSFP-100G-LR as the breakout partners at up to 500 m.
Against the QDD-400G-FR4-S (2 km) and QDD-400G-LR4-S (10 km), both duplex LC parts on CWDM wavelengths, the DR4-S has the shortest reach and the tightest loss allowance, 3 dB against 4 dB and 6.3 dB.
Other optics are in the Cisco modules and optics category, including the SFP-10G-SR 10GBASE-SR SFP.
