WS-X4748-RJ45-E is the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series 48-port 10/100/1000 (RJ-45) line card. It is a data-only module for user access and carries no PoE. Cisco rates the 48 ports as nonblocking at a 1:1 ratio.
The 47xx E-Series cards provide 48 Gbps per slot, or 24 Gbps in the 4507R-E and 4510R-E chassis. The card needs an E-Series chassis and Supervisor Engine 8-E, 8L-E, 7-E or 7L-E. Cisco gives the port limits as 48 or 96 on the 4503-E, 48 or 240 on the 4506-E, 4507R-E and 4507R+E, and 48 or 384 on the 4510R-E and 4510R+E. Going past 240 ports on a 4510R-E or 4510R+E needs Supervisor Engine 8-E or 7-E.
Minimum software is Cisco IOS XE Release 3.2.0SG. The card supports IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, IEEE 802.1AE with Cisco TrustSec in hardware, and jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes. Maximum rated power is 75 W, a planning figure, and the rated MTBF is 402,386 hours.
