ST10000NM002G is the 10TB standard 512E model of the Seagate Exos X16 SAS family, a helium-filled 3.5-inch drive. It supports Fast Format conversion to 4KN, and the dual-port SAS interface auto-negotiates 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0 Gb.
Sixteen read/write heads work at an areal density of 851 Gb/in2, and the internal data rate peaks at 2550 Mb/s. For the 12TB and 10TB capacities, sustained transfer runs from 103 to 234 MiB/s. The spindle turns at 7200 RPM with 4.16 ms average latency, and the buffer is 256MB. The drive weighs 670 g (1.477 lb).
A 128-deep task set, support for up to 32 initiators, Power Balance, Power Save, SAS Power Disable and Idle Read After Write are built in, with 512, 520 or 528 byte blocks selectable on 512E units.
The annualized failure rate is 0.35% with an MTBF of 2,500,000 hours, workload tops out at under 550TB per year, the load-unload rating is 600,000 cycles and nonrecoverable read errors are limited to 1 per 10E15 bits read.
