4YPVD: Dell 960GB 2.5in SSD HGST WUSTR1596ASS200

Dell part 4YPVD maps to the HGST WUSTR1596ASS200: a 2.5 inch 960GB SSD with 512e sectors and firmware K968. Dell supports 4YPVD in MD1400 and MD1420 storage enclosures, and it is not self-encrypting (non-SED).

WUSTR1596ASS20x is the 960GB read-intensive model of the Western Digital Ultrastar DC SS530 SAS SSD, built for 1 drive write per day and 1,880 TBW of writes. The final digit of the model number sets the security level (0 Instant Secure Erase, 4 secure erase without encryption, 1 TCG encryption, 5 TCG with FIPS), so the ...200 model is the Instant Secure Erase version.

SS530 is a dual-port 12Gb/s SAS drive on second-generation 3D TLC NAND in a 2.5 inch, 15 mm body. The drive reaches up to 2,150 MiB/s sequential read, 2,120 MiB/s sequential write and 440,000 random read IOPS at 4KiB; at the 1 DW/D endurance level random write reaches 100,000 IOPS and average read/write latency is 92 and 36 µs.

Reliability figures for the series are 2.5 million hours MTBF, a 0.35% annual failure rate and one unrecoverable bit error in 10^17. Power-loss data management and T10 end-to-end data protection are included, typical operating power is 9, 11 or 14W depending on version, idle draw is 3.2W and the drive weighs up to 175g.
