IBM's installation and user's guide for the BladeCenter S SAS RAID Controller Module names 45W5002 as the FRU number of the Battery Backup Unit (BBU), reports its part number as 45W4439, and lists 22R6649 as the top-level assembly of the battery backup unit. One BBU is bundled with each SAS RAID Controller Module, and the chassis needs one battery, FRU 45W5002, for each SAS RAID Controller Module to function.
Lenovo's BladeCenter S product guide gives the controller as part 43W3584 (feature 5453), shipped with one battery backup unit, and the replacement battery as 00Y3447 (feature 7589, BladeCenter RAID Battery Backup Module), with a maximum of two of each per chassis. The batteries sit in two battery backup module bays in the media tray at the front of the chassis. Each controller has 512 MB of ECC battery-backed cache, and the battery keeps cached data for up to 72 hours after a complete power failure.
The BladeCenter S is machine type 8886 in the System x channel and 7779 in the Power Systems channel. To confirm fit, check that the chassis is a BladeCenter S with SAS RAID Controller Modules and compare the old battery's label with 45W5002, 45W4439 or 00Y3447; other IBM and Lenovo parts are on the IBM / Lenovo parts hub.
