"PartSurfer lists P09716-B21 as the HPE 960GB SATA 6G Mixed Use SFF SC SM883 SSD, a 960GB drive with a 6Gb/s SATA interface in the small form factor and HPE's Smart Carrier.
Its spare number is P09909-001, described as a 960GB SATA SSD with Mixed Use rating, Smart Carrier and digitally signed firmware.
In the DL380 Gen9 QuickSpecs it is one of two 960GB SATA Mixed Use Smart Carrier options; the other is P07926-B21 with spare P08692-001.
The carrier-less version of this capacity is P09720-B21, sold by HPE as a raw (RW) drive. In HPE's SSD QuickSpecs, virtualization, business intelligence and big data analytics are given as examples of write-driven workloads. Digitally signed firmware, shown as DS in older HPE SKU names, is HPE's way of confirming that drive firmware comes from a trusted source.
HPE's smart carriers show drive status through LED icons and include a do-not-remove indicator that lights when pulling the drive would cause data loss.
