The IBM 3584-L23 is the base (control) frame of the IBM System Storage TS3500 Tape Library for 3592-format enterprise tape drives, holding up to 12 TS1120, TS1130 or TS1140 drives and up to about 260 cartridge slots.
Where it fits: IBM TS3500 libraries built around 3592 (TS1100-series) drives, as the first frame that houses the library controller, accessor and I/O station, with D23 and S24 frames added for expansion.
