4SG7A08868 is the Lenovo ThinkSystem NE2552E Flex Switch, feature code B2VW. It is an embedded I/O module for Flex System that provides 10 Gb, 25 Gb and 50 Gb Ethernet connectivity to compute nodes, with 40 Gb, 50 Gb and 100 Gb Ethernet uplinks. It is a full-featured Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch with large data center-grade buffers.
The switch has 28 internal ports that can run as 28x 10 GbE, 28x 25 GbE or 14x 50 GbE, or as certain combinations. Externally it has 8 SFP+/SFP28 ports for 10 GbE and 25 GbE transceivers, active optical cables and DAC cables, plus 4 QSFP+/QSFP28 ports for 40 GbE and 100 GbE. A QSFP28 port can be split into two 50 GbE or four 25 GbE links, and a 40 GbE port into four 10 GbE links, with breakout cables. Transceivers and cables are separate parts.
It runs the Enterprise Networking Operating System (ENOS) and supports Unified Fabric Port (UFP) NIC virtualization and Converged Enhanced Ethernet, so it can act as an FCoE transit device for NAS and iSCSI environments.
The NE2552E installs in I/O bays 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Flex System Enterprise Chassis with CMM2. It is not supported in the Enterprise Chassis with CMM or in the Carrier-grade Chassis. Each compute node needs a matching 10 GbE, 25 GbE or 50 GbE adapter in the corresponding slot. The module measures 30 mm high, 401 mm wide and 317 mm deep and weighs 3.7 kg.
