C-NIM-1X is a Cisco network interface module with one SFP+ port for 10-Gbps and 1-Gbps WAN connections. It is a next-generation 10G layer-3 WAN module with full 256-bit WAN MACsec, and the 10-Gbps connection is non-oversubscribed.
It is supported on the Catalyst 8300 Series and is not supported on the Catalyst 8200 Series. The required software is IOS XE 17.3.2. The module does not support PoE. The ports are routed layer 3 only, with no layer-2 switching between ports.
Supported 10G SFP+ types include SR, LR, ER, LRM, BX and ACU cables, alongside GE SFPs and the DWDM-SFP and DWDM-SFP10G. It does not support SFPs for RJ-45 copper media, 100BASE or 10BASE SFP modules, or the GLC-FE-100FX, GLC-FE-100LX and GLC-FE-100EX fibre SFPs.
The module measures 1.25 x 3.50 x 7.24 inches (32 x 89 x 184 mm) and weighs 240 grams. Supported hosts include the Catalyst 8300 edge platform with 2 x 10GE and 4 x 1GE WAN ports, and a different module for the same NIM slot is the C-NIM-8T 8-port gigabit module.
