C8500-20X6C is the Catalyst 8500 edge platform with 20 ports at 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet and 6 ports at 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet, all usable at once for 800 Gbps of port bandwidth. It is a 3RU chassis and needs Cisco IOS XE 17.10.1 or later.
IPv4 forwarding reaches up to 500 Gbps and IPsec of up to 400 Gbps with 1400-byte packets in autonomous mode. In SD-WAN mode, IPsec reaches up to 350 Gbps at 1400 bytes and up to 100 Gbps with IMIX traffic. The data plane is the third-generation Quantum Flow Processor with inline hardware IPsec and MACsec, and the control plane is an Intel x86 CPU. This model ships with 64 GB of DRAM, the maximum, and a 480 GB SSD.
The chassis has four power supply slots, and at least two supplies must be populated and powered. Choices are the PWR-CH1-1100WAC at 1100 W AC (90 to 264 V, 50 to 60 Hz) and a 950 W DC supply (-40 to -72 V). Dual supplies are the default, with N+1 redundancy and an N+2 option. Related options are MEM-C8500-64GB memory, SSD-M2SATA-480G storage and the L-DNA-C8500 subscription.
Smaller Catalyst 8500 models are the C8500-12X4QC and C8500-12X, and routers are in the Cisco routers range.
