C8500-12X4QC is a Cisco Catalyst 8500 Series Edge Platform in a compact 1RU chassis. Its ports are SFP+ and QSFP28, and Cisco states that a maximum of 240GE ports can be enabled at the same time. Using 4x10GE breakout cables on the QSFP 40G ports, up to 24 x 10GE interfaces can be configured, although not in SD-WAN mode.
Cisco gives these throughput figures: in SD-WAN mode, clear-text IPsec reaches up to 96 Gbps at 1400 bytes and up to 31.9 Gbps at IMIX; in autonomous mode, IPv4 forwarding at 1400 bytes reaches up to 197 Gbps and clear-text IPsec up to 135 Gbps. Autonomous scale includes 4M routes, 16M NAT sessions, 6M firewall sessions and 8000 VRFs.
Default memory is 16 GB of DRAM, upgradable to 32 GB (MEM-C8500-32GB) or 64 GB (MEM-C8500-64GB), and default storage is 32 GB eUSB, with an optional 480 GB SSD (SSD-M2SATA-480G). It ships with dual power supplies: PWR-CH1-750WACR (750 W AC, 80 Plus Platinum) or PWR-CH1-950WDCR (950 W DC).
The chassis measures 1.73 x 17.50 x 18.46 in and weighs 20.75 lb with two AC power supplies and the fan tray. The C8500-12X4QC is rated for 0 to 40°C operation. Cisco gives an MTBF of 146,700 hours and a minimum software release of Cisco IOS XE 17.3.2.
More Catalyst edge routers are in the Cisco routers category, including the C8500L-8S4X edge platform and the C8300-1N1S-4T2X edge platform.
