Cisco 2-Port Multiflex Trunk Voice and WAN T1/E1 Network Interface Module

NIM-2MFT-T1/E1 is the Cisco 2-port multiflex trunk voice and clear-channel data T1/E1 module for the NIM slot of Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers. Cisco does not support it in 2900 or 3900 series ISRs. It supports clear-channel data and MFT packet voice, but not channelized data or unstructured E1 (G.703).

Voice uses CAS with 24 channels per port on T1 or 31 per port on E1, one per timeslot, and needs one onboard PVDM4 DSP; each NIM has its own PVDM4, and echo cancellation runs up to 128 ms. Each data port can use an independent clock source, voice ports share one clock source, and E1 supports internal and loop (recovered) clocking.

T1 framing is D4 (SF) and ESF with AMI and B8ZS line coding; E1 uses HDB3. Cisco lists a fully managed integrated DSU/CSU for T1 and a fully managed DSU for E1, with DSX-1 cable length of 0 to 655 ft in DSU mode and CSU line build-out of 0, -7.5 or -15 dB.

The module weighs 0.42 lb (191 g) and measures 1.25 x 3.50 x 7.24 in (3.18 x 8.89 x 18.39 cm). It needs Cisco IOS XE 3.9 or later, or 3.11 or later for DSP farm conferencing and transcoding. Data needs the IP Base package, and voice needs at least the UC package.
