TPWNJ Dell 200GB 2.5in SSD Pliant LB206S for PowerVault MD

The Dell PowerVault support matrices list TPWNJ as a 2.5-inch, 200GB SSD made by Pliant (SanDisk), drive model LB206S.

In the Dell EMC PowerVault MD34XX/38XX Support Matrix (Rev. A25), Table 9 gives it as: form factor 2.5", model LB206S, capacity 200GB, speed column SSD, vendor Pliant (SanDisk), SED No, firmware D339. Dell states that only drives with a Dell EMC part number in that table are supported.

It is also in Table 12 of the MD32XX/36XX matrix, revision A24 of June 2020, where the firmware shown is D339. Among the arrays in that document, the MD3220, MD3220i, MD3620i and MD3620f are the 24-drive 2.5-inch models.

Dell's MD34/38 matrix adds that encrypted SSDs (SED-SSD) and 4Kn sector drives are not supported in those arrays and that 12 Gbps drives run at a negotiated 6 Gbps; the matrix does not list an interface speed for this drive itself.

Fit check: a 2.5-inch bay in a listed MD array and a drive marked TPWNJ. In the same matrix tables, 8NW1H carries the LB406S at 400GB and 5Y05N the LB806R at 800GB.

Compatibility and specifications

SanDisk's Lightning Write-Intensive SAS SSD data sheet covers the LB206S behind TPWNJ: SLC flash, a dual-port 6Gb/s SAS interface, capacitor-backed cache and 512, 520 or 528-byte sectors. SanDisk gives the 200 GB LB206S the same ratings as the 400 GB LB406S (8NW1H): up to 450/250 MB/s sequential read/write, 118,000 random read IOPS and 33,000 IOPS on 4 KB 50/50 random writes, with 3.9 W idle and 5.9 W typical power.
