EH969A is the HPE StoreEver LTO-6 Ultrium 6250 internal tape drive: a half-height, LFF, 6 Gb/s dual-port SAS drive with 6.25TB of compressed capacity per cartridge (2.5TB native, at 2.5:1 compression). HPE quotes 1.44 TB/hr compressed throughput and supports Linear Tape File System (LTFS) and AES 256-bit hardware encryption.
HPE rates the sustained native transfer rate at 160 MB/s, 400 MB/s compressed, with a 600 MB/s burst rate on 6 Gb/s SAS. Speed matching runs from 54 to 160 MB/s native. Load takes 24 seconds on average and unload 19 seconds. Rewind from end of tape on a 2.5TB cartridge takes 98 seconds, and HPE gives 50 seconds as the typical access time from beginning of tape on LTO-6 media.
The internal drive connects through a mini-SAS SFF8482 connector (the external model uses SFF8088). It reads and writes LTO-6 and LTO-5 cartridges and reads LTO-4, and it handles LTO-6 WORM media. Recording is 16-channel linear serpentine across 2,176 data tracks with Reed-Solomon error correction, and HPE rates MTBF at 250,000 hours at 100% duty cycle.
The external version of the same drive is EH970A, with replacement part number 684882-001. The matching 6.25TB rewritable LTO-6 cartridge has the replacement number 715934-001.
